Twelve years on platform teams taught me that the wrong service split costs quarters and the right deferral saves them. I know when to keep the monolith, when observability has to come first, and which review gates actually prevent outages instead of just adding ceremony.
Most teams reach for microservices too early. I'd rather ship a boring, debuggable system than an elegant one nobody can operate at 3am — and I weigh team maturity and blast radius before anyone splits anything.
What never leaves my machine: employer-specific configs, internal service names, anything that fingerprints where I've worked. The judgment transfers; the context stays put.
